A Review Of Warehouse Striping

By Melba Hardy

Warehouse striping is an essential aspect when it comes to handling of warehouses. This involves demarcating the entire floor of this structure with lines into areas that are easy to manage by the person in charge. This demarcation is done with the use of paints and tapes. It is a simple process especially when the necessary tools for use and manpower are available for the exercise.

Here, the entire process comes with clear instructions or commands to show walk-ways and those for machines used for loading and unloading. Others are for showing direction where to go once entering the depot. This aspect also contains numbering of separated areas where possible. For this reason, the stripes used, be it of tapes or paint, need durability feature so that they can be hold ground for a long time. Color distinction comes in handy at this point.

Variation of color is essential in order to portray a given message to the users. Since this building is usually dark inside requiring a lighting system, the used color bands need to have the ability to reflect this light in order for them to be visible. Good examples for those mostly used are yellow, white, blue, green and red. These are bright colors. Dark ones are not suitable for use.

The process of conducting this exercise is quite simple. The owner has to ensure that the floor is dazzling dirt free. This calls for thorough cleaning. Sometimes, other floors may not be as flat as they should be. This is due to poor laying of concrete surface. For durability to be experienced, the owner needs to check on this and ensure remedial measures are taken to flatten it.

Once cleanliness has been kept in check, the designer comes up with an outline in areas where he or she wants the lines to pass. A sketch for this matter shows exactly where stripe should be and also portray equal distribution of the space. When laying begins, it becomes a simple task to accomplish. Usually it is the next on line after coming up with a clear illustration.

The process can be conducted using machines or just manual means. Manual installation is cumbersome when the area to be covered is huge. Besides, it may not produce straight lines as required. At such a point is where the automated one comes into play. This is very effective and involves the use of machines. The outcome is great and appealing to the eyes. Once the machine has been set, it rolls out the tape or paint within the required positions.

Segmentation of a depot is beneficial in various aspects. It increases staging space for different kinds of products stored in the structure. The markings are a good sign for safety enhancement since employees are made aware of the areas where they are authorized to be and where they should not. Besides, this is the best way to make full use of any empty space when booking in goods from customers.

When carrying out warehouse striping, there is a need to contract a company or individual with essential skills, knowledge and experience. Such a person or entity carries out a satisfactory job by creating straight lines for demarcation and putting in place all the safety measures for protection of those working in this building.
