New Britain Drain Cleaning Keeps Pipes Flowing

By Jeanette Riggs

Modern homes have two types of pipes that serve the residents. The supply lines bring fresh, clean water into the home for drinking, cleaning, cooking and bathing. The drains are pipes that are connected to the fixtures to take away waste water. When drains are plugged, this water can become stuck inside the house. A New Britain drain cleaning company can restore the flow to these lines.

Kitchen drain problems generally do not happen overnight. The flow slows gradually as deposits of fats and soaps build up reducing the diameter of the inside of the pipe. Eventually, they cause a blockage. Service personnel use special devices that can cut through the clog to restore the flow to the sink quickly.

In the tub or shower, the problem is more likely to be soap and hair the buildup in the trap and pipes. When drains work properly, one should never find himself standing in water when taking a shower. The design is sufficient to remove water from the fixture almost as quickly as it flows in from the shower head. Unless one takes steps to remedy this problem, the pipes will become plugged completely. However, the pipe can be cleaned to restore it to a new condition.

The bathroom sink may become clogged with grime, soap, toothpaste and hair. Cleaning these lines can also restore proper flow to the sink. With these clogs, it is important to remove the offending material and not just push it further down the line where it will cause more problems in the future.

Many homes also have floor drains. Typically, these drains are found in rooms where water could overflow, such as the garage or basement. In older homes, they may also be found in bathooms. The traps on such lines need to stay filled with water all the time to prevent leaks from sewer gases. Every month, one should pour several gallons of water down floor drains. In addition to testing to see if they are working as they should, this helps to keep the trap filled with water.

Overflowing toilites indicate problems with the drainage system. The clogs could be located in the toilet fixture itself or the pipe. Often, the toilet must be removed to access the clogged pipe.

The sewer main is the biggest pipe in the typical home. All other drains eventually attach to this pipe that is four or more inches in diameter. The pipe then flows underground where it connects to a municipal sewer or to a septic tank. Clogs in this line can stop all other drains from working. They may be due to tree roots growing in the line or debris from fixtures in the home. Usually, such clogs can be removed by using a rooter, a plumbing snake with a cutting head.

New Britain drain cleaning services can work on any of the plumbing drains in one's homes. While all that is normally needed is for the accumulations to be removed, sometimes, the pipes themselves have failed. The company can do the work needed to restore the wastewater flow from a home.
